Lady with a Dog was a restoration practice I worked on as my Bachelor’s graduation work. It is a late 19th century painting, that was created in Paris.

A major issue was the extremely brittle layer of paint, which was consolidated during the restoration treatment. I also applied various other methods, such as surface cleaning, rust removal, lining, old varnish layer thinning, priming the loss areas of the painting, retouching and applying a new varnish layer.

This work represents my biggest challenge so far in dealing with cupping layers of paint. Even though the treatment process was highly delicate and required a fair amount of patience, I am pleased with the outcome – the paint layer is strengthened and smoothened. The painting regained its original uniform appearance.
